Motor Club Profile

The Motor Club of the West Midlands Constabulary was formed in 1966, initially members competed in off-road motor cycle competitions against officers from various other Police forces throughout the UK.

In 1974 the old Constabulary merged with the Police forces of Birmingham City, Coventry and Warwickshire and parts of West Mercia and the West Midlands Police Force and motor club was created.

This much bigger club had many more active motor sport participants, now members enjoyed racing cars and motor cycles, rallying, and off-road competitions.

Many members represented the British Police teams in the various disciplines with huge amount of success.

Current club members are actively involved in saloon car racing, kart racing, and classic car rallying.

The club is regularly to be found at various forest stage rallies where their expertise in setting up timekeeping controls is highly regarded.

The club has, in addition to being involved in motor sport, always promoted road safety initiatives whenever possible.

A full colour glossy magazine entitled “Copper Wheel” has been in production and distributed to members and selected outlets for over 30years.
